Process Journal #10
My aim is to complete at least one verse of the lyrics I'm about to write. My aim for next lesson is to complete 3 verses, bridge and a chorus. The lyrics will be about inspiration, bravery, courage. We were mainly focused on the song Brave by Sara Bareilles and Roar by Katy Perry. In these two lessons Reem redid the part with the bass synthesizer because she felt that the one we did before wasn't perfected between gaps. While she spent the whole lesson doing that in which I told her I could just fix it by moving the cords closer together to perfect it in Logic Pro X with the quantisizer thing (please excuse my references because I don't really know what it is called), she just insisted on doing it all over again 51235124 times. This has made me hate perfectionists even more as I do not think time should be wasted perfecting every little thing because if everything was perfect how would we ever be able to learn from our mistakes. The next lesson I showed Reem the lyrics I came up with and she was baffled that I had a talent with words, I was too in fact. We went around the class scavenging for our future recording artist, since me and Reem personally can't sing. Yara had agreed to singing to our lyrics and she listened to our tune so she can put it together. Reem and I have decided that the first 25 seconds will only be instruments and then Yara will kick in, hopefully with Anood. That's because I later asked Anood to sing with Yara because they both have exquisite singing voices, but I fear she pulls out last second because Anood can surprisingly be a shy person.
Feedback:
"Your song is structured to make me cry and fall in love" - Anood (on lyrics)
I hope that is supposed to be a compliment because crying can be symbolised also for depression, but I hope this time it is symbolised for happiness.
it is actually really cool - Ella (song+lyrics)
I know I was vague when asking for feedback, but even your most obscure feedback still means a lot since this line has told me that our music is being steered into the right direction from our point of view.
add back up instruments - Sara (song)
I hate to say this Sara, but I feel like whenever I ask for your feedback you criticise my music or tell me on how to make it better, yet never compliment it, nevertheless we have added more backup instruments thank you.
Our lyrics:
| Excuse the handwriting and the picture quality, but it still counts xx |
